What is NCCARF?
NCCARF stands for the "National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility".
The NCCARF works with the Australian Government's newly formed Department of Climate Change. For more details, visit their website
here.
The NCCARF will be organising adaptation research for the effects of climate change within Australia.
How is AGR and Murdoch University Involved?
We are part of a joint proposal to create a NCCARF network for Water Resources and Freshwater Biodiveristy. Our proposal partners include a string of Universities across Australia including Griffith University, UWA, University of Adelaide, Monash Uni, University of Tasmania, University of Canberra, ANU, UNSW, USQ, James Cook University, University of Newcastle and Charles Darwin University (and the list continues to grow).
At the moment we are collecting the details of researchers who would be interested in joining our network. Once in the network, you would be better informed of the research on offer and what is happening.
What is a NCCARF Adaptation Network?
Currently NCCARF is calling for proposals from organisations to host Adaptation Networks.
The purpose of an adaptation network is to
- Exchange information and share resources
- Contribute to the NCCARF in the development of research plans
- Establish research teams
There are eight themes proposed, and one network required for each theme. The Themes are
- Terrestrial Biodiversity
- Primary Industries
- Water Resources and Freshwater Biodiversity
- Marine Biodiveristy and Resources
- Human Health
- Settlements and Infrastructure
- Disaster Management and Emergency Services
- Social, Economic and Institutional Dimensions
We are only interested in Theme 3 -
"Water Resources and Freshwater Biodiversity:
- encompassing the impacts of climate change on surface and groundwater inland aquatic and semi-aquatic ecosystems;
- the associated social and economic impacts of changed water regimes;
- potential adaptation strategies."
Register Your Interest
We need your details to strengthen our proposal and keep you informed of the NCCARF research.
Please note that the details submitted will be presented to NCCARF and partnered universities.
If we are not successful in winning the proposal to host a network, we shall ensure that your details will still go to the NCCARF. Our main priority is that we will all be recognised and considered for the upcoming climate change research.
